UNION WINE COMPANY EVENT

Wine from the can might first sound strange, but actually if you think about it, it’s a pretty smart thing. The folks at Union Wine Company from Oregon, who are not only great in bottling but also now canning their wine want to make this traditional drink a little bit modern and with less fussiness that might come with the wine cult sometimes. You know, the whole glass swirling thing and pretending to recognize all the 300 flavors,  when you just want to drink and enjoy it. Think of all the picnics, beaches, parks and festivals where it’s much easier to bring a can then a bottle plus glasses – which also can get broken and then you have to put your shoes back on. Barefoot in the park is much more fun, isn’t it?

You maybe wonder about the taste and quality, but the folks at Union Wine Company encourage you to make the test. Get the Union Wine in the bottle and the can, invite your friends and taste it for yourself. And as for the environment – aluminium cans are super recyclable. So when last week Union Wine was celebrating their launch here in SF at Taylor Stitch HQ, the lovely Carley of Soda Pop PR {who btw has an amazing instagram accountinvited my friend Erica of The SF Lovely and I to clink glasses cans. Wine flowed, grilled cheese by The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen sizzled on the grill and happy people mingled all evening long.

At this point, I have to admit I don’t drink wine, but Erica shared her experience with me and she dreams:

“This is the kind of indulgence you want for an afternoon in the park, or a foggy day in San Francisco. I love the lightweight can, it’s a simplistic and safe way to bring treats for the beach with friends, and the Pinot Noir taste is spectacular, like it’s straight from a glass bottle. The best thing? Not having to fuss with a bottle opener.” – Erica
